About Wesley Acres
Wesley Acres (WA) is a Christian retreat centre and campground that provides the opportunity for spiritual growth, social connection, and physical recreation in a Christ-centered community. It is located in the heart of Prince Edward County just outside of Bloomfield, Ontario. Surrounded by water, Wesley Acres is a 250-acre property with 5 kilometres of shoreline that sits on the beautiful shores of West Lake overlooking the Sandbanks Provincial Park. It features a trailer park, meeting facilities, playground, boat launch and an overnight children and youth campus called Harbour Ridge.
Wesley Acres is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church in Canada and is a charitable organization.
About the Role
The Food Services Manager manages the overall food service operation at Wesley Acres, including: Menu planning, purchasing, preparation, nutrition, safety, service, sanitization, record keeping. Meals are served to our campground residents and guests from May long weekend until Thanksgiving. There is a lighter demand outside the months of July and August. The food services department is an integral part of the overall Wesley Acres and campground community.
As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, the Food Services manager will lead by example in living a life based on Christian Biblical values and will uphold Christian principles consistent with those of the Free Methodist Church in Canada.
Accountable to the Executive Director, the Food Services manager supports the strategic leadership given by the Wesley Acres Inc. (WAI) a not-for-profit ministry, and Wesley Acres Trailer Park Inc., a for-profit corporation owned by WAI.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the Wesley Acres food and dining service, including coordinating activities between the kitchen and the operation of camp

Oversee the planning and preparation of menu items for the different camp operations

Manage food service requirements for Wesley Acres special events and work with volunteers to implement those events

Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of meals for Wesley Acres Special guests

Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitization, and upkeep of the camp kitchens, equipment, and facilities while keeping safety regulations in mind

Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle/compost as much as possible

Experience cooking for large groups

Partner with vendors to receive optimum values including rebates

When possible, partner with local farmers and vendors to provide the freshest, best-tasting, and most nutritional food available

Monitor employee performance and provide training to attain high food service standards
Core Competencies & Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Food Services Manager will demonstrate strong integrative and operational leadership and a servant-hearted posture, grounded in a passion for Christ-centered ministry. They must be deeply committed to the organization's values and mission, with a proven ability to inspire their team, navigate complex challenges, and lead organizational growth.
Education in Culinary Skills training would be an asset. Must possess a valid Food Handler's Certificate.
Experience in:

Institutional or large food service settings

Knowledge of and experience in food service ordering, inventory, budgeting, cooking for large groups, food preparation, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment

Proven ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently

Supervising effectively

Working with volunteers
