Our Week 4 Team

David Guretzki

Dr. David Guretzki is an Executive Vice-President and Resident Theologian for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. He previously served on the EFC Board for nine years and worked since the 1990s as Dean of Briercrest Seminary and Professor of Theology and Public Life….

David grew up and came to know the Lord at Onoway Evangelical Free Church (Alberta). He served as assistant pastor at Lacombe EFC from 1989-1992, after which he pursued further education and joined the faculty at Briercrest, where he helped equip people for ministry until moving to the EFC in June 2017. He has taught and researched on a broad number of topics, especially the theology of forgiveness and reconciliation, the nature of the Church and Kingdom of God, the theology of marriage and illness, and the Christian's place in public life.

Before his move to Ottawa to join the EFC, David served as an elder at Caronport Community Church, a board member for The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and past president of the Canadian Evangelical Theological Association. He has regularly preached and taught in various church contexts across Canada. David has been married to Maureen since 1989. They have three children, two adults and one teenager. When David manages to find a few spare moments, he is involved in astrophotography, amateur radio, reading novels and woodworking.

Todd and Sheryl Neilson[5940].jpeg

Todd & Sheryl Neilson

Todd and Sheryl share a unique heritage of faith and music. Travelling with the popular Neilson Family band, Todd spent most of his childhood on the road performing family concerts in venues and churches across America. Sheryl’s parents, (Bruce and Elaine Stacey) had an early musical influence on her life as well. As a teen in the 1990’s, Sheryl hosted several Christian television programs for youth and began to compose and perform her own music. In 1999, at 18 years of age, she was nominated for a JUNO in the Gospel category for her self-titled, contemporary Christian album. God had something special in mind when she and Todd first met in 2002. Within 24 months they were married and on-the-road together, performing as lead musical artists in the award-winning, God Rocks! musical group. During a decade of kid’s ministry, they went on reach millions of boys and girls through concerts and television. Today, Todd and Sheryl continue to share their love of God, family and worship through the local church and their four, beautiful children. We welcome them back for another year!
