It
only seems like yesterday when we were all at Wesley Acres together,
enjoying what God has provided both in nature and in ministry.
We have had a wonderful year, which is in large part, the result
of the many hours of volunteerism provided by so many of you,
our wonderfully dedicated staff, counselors, prayer warriors,
and most importantly blessings from God.
On
a sad note, we have recently lost some strong supporters and
volunteers as the Lord took them home. Please keep the families
of those left behind in your prayers as they face this season
without their loved ones for the first time. I was able to attend
one of the funerals and witnessed the celebration of a life
lived serving God and others. It also made me reflect on the
cenotaph of the life I am building and opened my eyes to the
fact that we must run this race with all we've got to the finish
and that I for one need to keep that in focus. I hope that you
too take the opportunity from time to time to reflect on this
and ask God for direction in your life.
Your
Board and Committees have been working diligently throughout the
fall, preparing next years activities as well as planning for
the long range regarding infrastructure and other needs. The 2007
budget has already been presented to the Board and received approval
at the last meeting. My thanks to all involved with this arduous
process.
Our Free to Minister Campaign continues on in earnest and though
the details are provided elsewhere in this newsletter, I want
to thank those who have already committed to this effort of eliminating
the ministry debt and to build 4 more cabins on Harbour Ridge.
Eliminating the debt frees up money currently being used to service
debt and its' interest, which can now be applied to ministry activities.
If you have not already done so, I urge you to consider contributing
to this very worthwhile cause and be a part of building a future
for the children, youth and other ministries at Wesley Acres.
Finally, on behalf of your Board of Directors, I want to wish
each and everyone a blessed, holy Christmas.
Ed
Morris, Chair
Support
Services Committee (SSC)
On
behalf of the committee I'd like to thank the dozens of volunteers,
painters, grass cutters, helpers, all those who have laboured
to assist in carrying the work load of the facilities this year.
For the first time this summer the campers excitedly used the
new cabins of the Harbour Ridge Campus. While this act showed
progress it brought home how desperately we need to continue with
key projects. SSC building projects can only be done as money
is available. Project priorities are: sewer lines, pumping stations
and bathrooms for the cabins, the addition of four more cabins
(two parent support cabins and two camper cabins), and the main
campus building. Additional projects & plans running parallel
to the major Harbour Ridge Campus initiative finishing the DDC
motel rooms, building a mini-golf course, painting the barn, replacing
the aging Raven, building a maintenance shop for the repair and
indoor workspace for our maintenance people.
All these projects require funding above and beyond the ministry
budget of Wesley Acres. They require your prayer coverage, your
skills, and your volunteer hours and outside resources. My question
to you is, "What is God asking you to do'?" Many of
these projects will impact the ministry and outreach of Wesley
Acres.
We need your ideas, your help and your continued prayer for this
coming year.
Respectfully submitted,
Brian Pritchard,
Support Services Committee.

Free
To Minister Update
Since
July 1st when our campaign launched, a total of $278,800 has been
pledged and of that
amount, $79,643 has been received so far. Praise be to God and
thanks to all of you who have responded to date with such generosity.
We are now within $21,200 of achieving Phase 1 of our goal, which
will eliminate the Ministry Debt of $300,000.
A Pledge Card is available for the benefit of those who indicated
to our Task Force Volunteers this summer that they would like
to participate, in the hopes that this may be a better time for
you to respond.
It is critical that we receive additional pledges by December
31st as once we reach the $300,000 mark, one of our donors has
promised a $20,000 gift to go towards hooking up the septic system
